SYDNEY (Reuters) – Australian employment fell by 1% over the month to Aug. 8, weekly knowledge confirmed on Tuesday, with the southeastern state of Victoria that’s grappling with a recent wave of coronavirus infections struggling an extra blow.
The discharge, an experimental sequence, differs from the month-to-month official employment knowledge and is predicated on wage fee figures from the Australian Taxation Workplace (ATO).
“The most recent knowledge confirmed that after an preliminary interval of restoration between mid-April and mid-June, payroll jobs losses had remained between 4% and 5% beneath mid-March,” the Australian Bureau of Statistics mentioned.
Payroll jobs fell 2.8% in Victoria.
